Bean-Sidhe (Ban-shee)

Bean-Sidhe (Ban-shee) – Sidhe women who are young and beautiful and wail or keen over the dead or those soon to be so; often referred to as harbingers of death; another name for similar fairies is Sìthiche (Shee-uh-khe), who can be both benevolent and malevolent; note the Irish and Scottish Gaels spell the word for fairies differently, with it being Sidhe and Sìth, respectively.
